When Tomorrow Starts Without Me

When tomorrow starts without me,
And I'm not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me:
~~~
I wish you wouldn't cry
The way you did today,
While thinking of the many things,
We didn't get to say
~~~
I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too:
~~~
But when tomorrow starts without me,
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name,
And took me by the hand.
~~~
And said my place was ready,
In heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind
All those I dearly love.
~~~
But when I walked through heaven's gates,
I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me,
From His great golden throne,
~~~
He said, "This is eternity.
And all I've promised you.
Today your life on earth is past,
But here life starts anew."
~~~
"I promise no tomorrow,
But today will always last,
And since each day's the same way
There's no longing for the past.
~~~
"So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here, in your heart.
~~~
We don't know each other but I have 2 daughters still waiting in Guatemala for over 4 years now so I understand the special love you have for Josi. I just wanted to tell you that my heart aches for you and your family. Please know that you all are in my prayers. May God's light shine upon you and give you peace. Blessings
Carla,
What a beautiful poem about your beautiful, precious daughter Josi! I pray you are comforted in the knowledge that she is dancing and twirling for Jesus now. I hope you can feel Him holding you now too.
Much love,
Carla--I'm praying that today is a better day for you. Your sisters are all here for you...come talk to us whenever you need to...cry, vent, yell, laugh...whatever you need to do to get through this awful time.
Carla, I don't know you, but my sister Jane Fineburg just gave me this news. My heart is broken for you and your precious family, but I know in the midst of this horrible tragedy, OUR GOD IS FAITHFUL AND TRUE! AND HE IS SO NEAR TO THE BROKENHEARTED. YOU WILL BE IN MY PRAYERS. THIS IS WHERE THE BODY OF CHRIST COMES IN AND HOLDS YOU UP AND STRENGTHENS YOU WHEN PAIN IS OVERWHELMING. I LOVE YOU, YOUR SISTER IN CHRIST.
Please accept my prayers and love as a sister in Christ. One thing that God has taught me through our adoption is that there is no space betweent us in God and my heart has been woven together with mighty prayer warriors who also have traveled this journey of adoption and have carried me when i couldn't carry myself. These ladies, many I have never met, amazing how the Body of Christ works! I offer my love and hope that you can feel your sisters carrying you and your family in prayer through this time.
I love you, sister! and will be praying!!
I just found your blog and heard of your tragedy. I'm speechless and numb right now. Crying for you and your family.
I have a little girl from Guatemala...and my first son died at the age of nine months. Though the circumstances of my loss were very different, I certainly relate to the loss of a child.
I will pray with fervency for you, my friend. I know my little Noah will make Josi feel very welcome in Heaven. She will be there waiting for you when you get there.
Holding on to the hope along side you...
I just heard about your loss, and I feel so sad for you. Josi was so fortunate to have a family that loved her so much - I know that you were truly a blessing to her - knowing that she had a forever family that was waiting for her. I will keep your family as well as the Guatemalan familiy in my prayers. May God's peace be with you. Wendy in Fredericksburg, VA
I’ll lend you for a little while
A child of mine, God said
For you to love the while she lives
And mourn for when she’s dead.
It may be six or seven years,
Or forty-two or three.
But will you, till I call her back
Take care of her for me?
She’ll bring her charms to gladden you
And - should her stay be brief -
You’ll have her lovely memories
As a solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay
For all from earth returns,
But there are lessons taught below
I want this child to learn.
I’ve looked the whole world over
In my search for teachers true.
And from all beings that crowd life’s land
I have chosen you.
Now, will you give her all your love?
Nor think the labor vain.
Nor hate me when I come to take
This lent child back again.
I fancied that I heard you say
“Dear Lord, Thy will be done.
For all the joys Thy child will bring
The risk of grief we’ll run.
We will shelter her with tenderness
We’ll love her while we may -
And for the happiness we have known
Forever grateful stay.
But should the angels come for her
Much sooner than we planned.
We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes
And try - to understand.”
I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine the pain you must have. As a mother I can only know it must be tremendous.
